My employer is awesome. Extremely awesome. So awesome that they have a whole Wellness Team devoted to making sure employees have access to all sorts of information for a healthy lifestyle. As part of this, every 8 weeks or so, they begin a Biggest Loser competition. I've entered many times, only to admit defeat and go back to my unhealthy lifestyle many times. Usually, the competitions were team based, but this past competition was for individuals. Once again, I signed up, and didn't follow through. But there must've been an angel on my side, because as part of the process they selected individuals with dangerously high BMI's to apply for a special 'Elite' Biggest Loser program where they would hold our hands through the process of losing weight. Having always wanted to be on the show, but not willing to sacrifice my career, this was a true blessing. I applied, hoped and prayed I would be accepted....and a couple of weeks later, I received a phone call saying I had been accepted into the program. My first reaction was anxiety. I completely freaked out that now I actually had to follow through with this and there would be other people to hold me accountable. Talk about being out of your comfort zone....
We met on August 2nd to go over some ground rules - things that they wanted us to adapt into our lives. We also set some goals, and met the team that would be helping us through this. We started with 12...all of us ladies that had either pursued careers, taken care of everyone but ourselves, or just flat out hadn't put in the effort (and surely, some combination of all of these).
So we've just started Week 3...5:30am workouts are the norm now, and we're following the "Mayo Clinic 'Diet'". I put Diet in quotes because it's not really a diet...it's just a quick and dirty way of eating and living healthy. It seems to be working....and it's super simple to follow.
I thought it'd be nice to share this with the world...heck, if I can do it...surely, anyone can. :)
Down 11lbs in 2 weeks...and darn happy about it!
